On 24 February 2016, BIPT updated its coverage maps of mobile telecom operators in Belgium. Results clearly show that only 0.11% of the Belgian population still lacked 4G coverage by 14 January 2016. This corresponds to a total 4G coverage (for all 3 networks combined) of 98.1% of the territory. As far as 3G is concerned, operators already cover 99.7% of the territory and 100% of the population.
Maps show that operators have continued to roll out their networks. Coverage rates of each of the three operators record a progressive rise. In other words, the less densely populated rural areas of the Belgian territory are more and more covered. The aggregated coverage data are available on our website.
It is worth noting that the service quality does not only depend on the presence of coverage. The quality of the customer experience may be influenced by the signal strength and the network configuration.
