Australia ranks ninth in the world for 4G network speeds, according to global report

Singapore takes the crown with the country recording an average of 37/mbps.This is followed by New Zealand with 29/mbps, Hungary and Israel with 28/mbps, South Korea with 27/mbps, Romania with 25/mbps and Denmark with 25/mbps.As mentioned earlier, Australia is ninth on the list with 4G speeds of 24/mbps.

To break this down even further, the report analysed how the three biggest Aussie telcos compare for speeds. As expected, Telstra lead the way offering customers 29/mbps on the 4G network. This is almost one third faster than Optus and Vodafone who offer 19/mbps and 17/mbps, respectively.

Telstra’s speeds are so impressive, it manages to rank number 12 in the world overall. While Australia might rank ninth in terms of speeds, we sit 20th in the world when it comes to overall coverage of the 4G network.

South Korea dominates this category with users given access to a 4G network 97 per cent of the time.In comparison, Australia is on par with Finland and Kazakhstan offering access to a 4G network 75 per cent of the time.

Once again, Telstra offers the best coverage, with customers having access to a 4G network 77 per cent of the time.
