National Institute of Technology, Manipur: National Institute of Technology Manipur, a centrally funded institution is set up to impart quality technical education to various levels of higher learning. It is one of the ten newly set up NIT’s by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India vide its order no. F.23-13-2009-TS-III dated 30th October 2009 and 3rd March 2010. It has been established to cater to the needs of the thousands of students from the North East and outside in the field of Technical Education With National Institute of Technology Agartala, as its mentor institute and tremendous support from the State Govt. of Manipur, NIT Manipur started its first session on 1st August, 2010.

National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology, Manipur: NIELIT Imphal Centre is centre of NIELIT New Delhi, which is an autonomous body of Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Ministry of Communication & Information Technology, Govt. of India. The centre is located in the capital city of Imphal and is having two extension centres at Churachandpur and Senapati District. The centre was established as Centre for Electronics Design & Technology(CEDT) in the year 1987 and was renamed as DOEACC in December 2002. The Centre adopted its current name NIELIT since 2011. The campus of NIELIT Centre Imphal is located at Akampat about 5 kms in the south-east direction from the heart of the city. Spread over an area of more than 20 acres, it houses the main Institute Building consisting of Administrative wing, Lecture Halls, Faculty Rooms, Computer Labs, Mechanical Workshop, Electro medical Laboratory, PCB Lab, Servicing cell and other laboratories. Besides the main institute building, the campus houses the staff quarters, students’ hostels, electrical substation and other host of essential facilities.

Manipur Institute of Technology, Manipur: Manipur Institute of Technology (MIT) formerly known as Government College of Technology, Imphal is a Constituent College and is being maintained by the Manipur University out of the funds made available to it by the UGC. It came into existence on 28 August 1998 with 3 (three) engineering disciplines viz.Computer Science & Engineering,Electronics & Communication Engineering and Civil Engineering for the promotion of higher technical education in the state. Classes of the 1st batch were started from 16 December 1998. The initial approved intake capacity as per AICTE is 150 (one hundred and fifty) students per year; however, the present approved by the State Govt. is 90 seats per year. The campus is located at Takyelpat at a distance of 4 km from the heart of Imphal, the capital city of Manipur in a comfortable surrounding with the NH-53 running south of it.

Manipur University, Manipur: Manipur University was established on 5th June, 1980 under the Manipur University Act. 1980 (Manipur Act 8 of 1980), as a teaching cum-affiliating university at Imphal with territorial jurisdiction over the whole of the state of manipur and it was converted into a central university. Manipur University was established on 5 June 1980, under the Manipur University Act 1980 (Manipur Act 8 of 1980), as a teaching cum-affiliating university at Imphal with territorial jurisdiction over the state of Manipur. It was converted into a Central University w.e.f. 13 October 2005. The Manipur University Act No.54 of 2005 received the assent of the president on 28 December 2005.
