National Institute of Technology, Dimapur: National Institute of Technology Nagaland (NIT Nagaland) is a higher education technology institute located at Dimapurin Nagaland, India. It is one of the 30 National Institutes of Technology. NIT Nagaland was set up by the Government of India in 2009, as part of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2007–2012) for imparting technical education in the state of Nagaland. NIT Silchar has provided initial mentorship to NIT Nagaland for the initial two years of its establishment.The first batch of NIT Nagaland (2010-2014) studied at NIT Silchar for two years and then the NIT Nagaland has shifted to its home state, Nagaland in September 2012. NIT Nagaland is a federally funded technical university established by an Act of the Indian Parliament.

Government Polytechnic – Nagaland: Nagaland has limited infrastructure and facilities for technical education. It is almost fully dependent upon Central Government allocation/quota for sending its students for technical education particularly for engineering, computer and IT studies. These students are compelled to be sent outside the state, further increasing their cost of education. Lack of technical education facilities is also one of the major reasons contributing to the low profile of socio-economic development of the State.Technical Education in the State started in the year 1972 with the establishment of the first Polytechnic, Nagaland Polytechnic at Atoizu, (Zunhebhoto Dist) which was later renamed as Khelhoshe Polytechnic.
Institute of Communication and Information Technology – ICIT: Institute of Communication and Information Technology (ICIT), Mokokchung has been setup under the Third Technician Education Project, assisted by the World Bank. Under this project the State Project Implementation Unit(SPIU) was set up which has the overall responsibility in setting up Institutes for Technician Education.The Institute was established in the year 2003 with a view to gather to the needs of the people of the state in emerging areas of Information Technology and to provide the art of teaching-learning facilities as available elsewhere in the country.

Nagaland University: Nagaland University is a Central University established in the state of Nagaland by an Act of Parliament by the Government of India in 1989. Its headquarters is at Lumami, Zunheboto and other campuses spread across the state, namely at Kohima (Merima), Medziphema, and Dimapur (temporary). There are 61 colleges affiliated to it, with a total student population of around 24,000. Courses offered are M.A, M.Sc, M.Com, MBA, B.Tech, B.Sc (Agri.), LL.B, B.Ed, B.Sc, B.A, B.Com, BBA, BCA, B.Sc (Nursing).
