AT&T Mobility : LLC, formerly known as Cingular Wireless, is a wholly owned subsidiary of AT&T that provides wireless services to 128.6 million subscribers in the United States  including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. AT&T Mobility is the second largest wireless telecommunications provider in the United States and Puerto Rico behind Verizon Wireless. AT&T Mobility is headquartered in the Lenox Park area of Brook haven, Georgia, just outside Atlanta.Originally known as Cingular Wireless from 2000 to 2007, a joint venture between SBC Communications and Bell South, the company acquired the old AT&T Wireless in 2004; SBC later acquired the original AT&T. Cingular became wholly owned by AT&T in December 2006 as a result of AT&T’s acquisition of Bell South.In January 2007, Cingular confirmed it would re-brand itself under the AT&T name. It was founded by the brothers Behn, Sosthenes and Hernan. Originally, Puerto Rico Telephone Company eventually spawned ITT Corporation, which was founded by Sosthenes Behn. The company was a public corporation of the government of Puerto Rico for many years until the majority stakes were acquired by GTE in the mid-1990s. It was a subsidiary of Verizon Communications until it was fully acquired by América Móvil in 2007. Its headquarters are located in Bellevue, Washington, in the Seattle metropolitan area. Sprint Corporation: Sprint Corporation, commonly referred to as Sprint, is an American telecommunications holding company that provides wireless services and is a major global Internet carrier. It is the fourth largest wireless network operator in the United States, and serves 58.4 million customers as of January 2016.The company also offers wireless voice, messaging, and broadband services through its various subsidiaries under the Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile, and Assurance Wireless brands, and wholesale access to its wireless networks to mobile virtual network operators. The company is headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas. In July 2013, a majority of the company was purchased by Japanese telecommunications company SoftBank Corporation, although the remaining shares of the company continue to trade on the New York Stock Exchange.Sprint traces its origins to the Brown Telephone Company, which was founded in 1899 to deploy telephone service to the rural area around Abilene, Kansas. In 2006, Sprint exited the local landline telephone business, spinning those assets off into a newly created company named Embarq, which later became a part of Century Link. Open Mobile: PR Wireless (d/b/a Open Mobile) is a mobile network operator that offer smobile phone services exclusively in Puerto Rico. The company was established on June 12, 2007 as a relaunch of New Comm Wireless Services (formerly d/b/a Movistar). Its new owners, M/C Partners and Columbia Capital,acquired Movistar’s assets for $160 million USD after Movistar filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on December 2006.Open Mobile’s business model is based on the advance payment and unlimitedlocal call services. The company was able to achieve positive EBITDA after 5 months of its relaunch.In 2014, Verizon Wireless signed a 2G and 3G roaming agreement with Open Mobile to allow Verizon customers to use Open Mobile’s network without charge.
