Vodacom:  is an African mobile communications company, providing voice, messaging, data and converged services to over 55 million customers. From its roots in South Africa, Vodacom has grown its operations to include networks in Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo,Mozambique, and Lesotho and provides business services to customers in over 40 African countries such as Nigeria, Zambia, Angola, Kenya, Ghana,Côte d’Ivoire, and Cameroon. Airtel:  is the largest telecommunications company in Tanzania by coverage area and the second-largest telecommunications company in Tanzania after Vodacom Tanzania based on total wireless customers, with about 1.7 million users (26 percent market share) by August 2007.The company is the part of Airtel Africa, the pan African mobile network operator and the largest mobile service provider in Africa outside of South Africa. Airtel Tanzania is the pioneer and part of the “One Network”, the world’s first border less network across East Africa. Airtel Tanzania was the first telecom company to launch General Packet Radio Service/Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution (GPRS/EDGE)service in Tanzanian Market on April 3, 2006. Celtel Tanzania has its headquarters in Celtel House, Dar Es Salaam. On August 1, 2008, Celtel rebranded all of its African operations under the Zain name. Smile Communications:   (Smile TZ) is a telecommunications network company in Tanzania. It was registered in July 2009 and began commercial operations in May 2013. The company is a subsidiary of Smile Telecoms Holdings, a South African telecommunications conglomerate, whose subsidiaries include: (a) Smile Telecom (Nigeria) (b) Smile Telecom (Tanzania) (c) Smile Telecom (South Africa) and (d) Smile Telecom (Uganda).Smile’s first country of operation in Africa was in Tanzania. Smile Tanzania was the first company to launch commercial 4G LTE services in Tanzania and began its operations in the city of Dar es Salaam.

Halotel:  is a mobile communications company, providing voice, messaging, data and converged services in Tanzania. It is owned by Viettel Group which is the state-owned mobile operator from Vietnam and s invested over $1 Billion into the country. The Company was the first company in Tanzania allowed to lay its own fiber opticable and has placed over 18,000 km of optic fibers, providing all 26 regions of Tanzania services.The Tanzanian telecom market is one of the most competitive markets in Africa and Tanzania has over 71% mobile phone penetration.The company aims to capitalize on the providing a very wide coverage as quickly as possible and the company claims to cover over 81% of the country’s area soon to be the higher than any of the major providers.
