MagtiCom launches LTE-Advanced network in Georgia

MagtiCom has announced the commercial launch of the first LTE-Advanced mobile network in Georgia.

On May 31, 2016 MagtiCom purchased mobile spectrum in the 800 MHz band by auction held by the National Communications Commission for GEL25,391,303  lari.

MagtiCom has combined the 800MHz with its existing 1800MHz spectrum to launch an LTE-A network, which it says supports maximum down/upload speeds of up to 185Mbps/75Mbps.

Although MagtiCom has not announced the coverage details, the operator claims that the rollout of its LTE-Advanced network has increased its total number of 2G/3G/4G base stations to 4,493 across the country.
